The puzzling existence of guardian angels

You may be wondering if there are guardian angels on the planet and do they really help humans? But the answer is YES. Since ancient times it has been a belief treasured by followers of all religions and many have experienced the same thing in their personal lives. Guardian angels are special angels who are ordained by God to listen and carry out his work. They protect and guard everything that is considered precious in the eyes of God and this is due to the inexhaustible love they have for God. There are so many amazing stories and experiences shared by many people about guardian angels. They are not strangers to us, but rather guard and protect us from bad deeds.

Most of us imagine “guardian angels” as radiant, beautiful, with light hair, feminine features, and large feathered wings. Also many of us have seen imitations of guardian angels in paintings of churches, cathedrals, images in books and the Internet, which gives us a clear look at the figure of guardian angels.

In the Bible, the holy book of Christians, the word “angel” appears several hundred times. They are depicted as soldiers with great powers; we can read about this in Genesis where angels guarded the eastern gates of the garden and in Revelation where they appeared with flashing swords. Also the Bible describes the liberation of Saint Peter from prison through angels as “guardians”.

“Angels” literally means “messengers.” They are of heavenly order and are used by God to convey express messages from him, to act as helpers, etc. of human beings. The angels were already present on earth as joyous spectators when God created the earth. Do you believe that angels have a physical body? No, the angels are not endowed with any physical body, they are exempt from the natural impediments that we find; they do not have to suffer from physical fatigue, loss of energy, dimming of sight or hardness of hearing. Space or plain, land or sea, day or night, light or darkness, time or distance, cold or heat cannot hinder their activities or stop their movement. On the other hand, they have the power to subject them to their control, or to use them at will to fulfill the mission for which they are sent.

For example, fire has no power over them, but they made use of fire. It can be read in so many places in the Holy Bible. “The angel of the Lord ascended in the flame of the altar” (Judge 13,20) “an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire” (Acts 7,30)

All angels excel in strength, unlike human beings who can be weakened by illness, malnutrition, and exertion. Angels are created full of wisdom and God created them with perfect beauty, power, holiness and wisdom. Since they were created before man, and were familiar with the world from the time it was created, their wisdom about this world is perfect. Being immortal beings, exempt from death, they have continued to live with perfect knowledge of everything that has happened in this world since creation. So they know all the past and they are also aware of the present, but they are unable to know the future unless God reveals it to them.

Once a man crossing the Atlantic on a ship became terribly seasick and was confined to his cabin. One night suddenly he heard, “man overboard!” there was nothing he could do, but he told himself, “At least I can put my flashlight on the pothole.” He struggled and hung up the light. When the man was rescued, the report of him was: “Suddenly a light shone over my head and a sailor in a lifeboat grabbed me.” This was purely an act of an angel who came to help in times of trouble.

The angels have their own realm and have different degrees of lordship. Archangel is the main or chief angel of all. We cannot understand all the mystery about the angel realm, we can only catch a few glimpses here and there. Angels are engaged in different types of ministries as messengers, helpers, hosts, etc. From the Holy Bible scriptures we can read angels as helpers who fed Elijah who was weak and discouraged.

In Hinduism, angels are not specifically mentioned, but they believe in spirits that have the same ability to do things as angels. Hindus refer to them as ‘devas’ and consider these spirits to play an important role in protecting and safeguarding from all evil harm.

Angels are known as ‘malaikah’ in Islam and they have faith that these angels act as messengers or intermediaries between their God Allah and His peoples in the world.
