The Brahma Sthala or the central point of the building is very important. It must be kept clean.
Chanakya in his ‘Arthasastra’ states that in the middle of the king’s fort the temples of Siva, Vaisravana, the Asvins, Lakshmi and Madira (all the Hindu deities) would be built.

It is preferable that the building faces East or Northeast.
