Jawline Botox a Permanent Solution

The masseter muscles are a group of jaw-related muscle tissue that help you chew. Typically, they’re very large, which can make a woman’s face appear wider at the jaw and chin. We can inject botulinum toxin into these muscles to weaken them, which reduces the width of the lower face and slims the jawline for a more feminine, heart-shaped or inverted triangle look.

The injection is quick, comfortable, and not invasive. It’s also relatively inexpensive, as compared to other procedures that may offer the same aesthetic enhancement. Depending on the specific dermal filler chosen, it can be used to build up the area for a more pronounced chin or jaw bone and add definition. This is often more effective when the underlying structure is weak, but not completely absent from the face.

As with all Botox injections, the onabotulinum toxin found in jawline Botox works by blocking nerve endings and preventing their release of the neurotransmitter responsible for triggering muscle contraction. When injected into the masseter muscles, it can weaken them and cause the size of the muscle to decrease. The result is a narrower lower face and sleeker jawline, enhancing your cheekbones for a more symmetrical look.

Is Jawline Botox a Permanent Solution?

It can take about a week for you to start feeling the results of jawline Botox. At that point, you’ll have a clearer sense of what the results will be and can decide if they meet your cosmetic goals.

Botox is a minimally invasive treatment that can be performed at your healthcare provider’s office or at a medical spa (also called a medspa or medispa). A physician or nurse will examine your face and discuss your goals with you. They’ll mark the locations for injection and may take pictures to show you before-and-after results of the treatment.

A few days after the injection, you can resume your normal activities, but it’s recommended to ice the area to reduce swelling and bruising. You’ll need to return to the doctor at regular intervals to maintain your jawline Botox results, but some patients find that they can gradually extend the time between appointments without sacrificing their results.

Unlike dermal fillers, which use hyaluronic acid to plump the skin and provide volume, jawline Botox uses the botulinum toxin to relax the muscle and reduce its size. This makes it a good option for people who have naturally weak masseter muscles or have experienced bruxism in the past.

While noninvasive treatments like Kybella and CoolSculpting produce permanent results by removing fat cells from the jawline, Botox injections do not. The muscles will begin to revert back to their regular activity over time, which is why we recommend scheduling follow-up jawline Botox sessions at BEAUX Medspa around the six-month mark. Keeping your follow-up appointments will ensure your jawline remains slim and your results look natural.
