The BMW 7 Series is a full-size luxury sedan that’s known for its spacious and sumptuous cabin. It’s no wonder that it earned the title of the roomiest vehicle in its class when U.S. News tested the 2021 model year version of this flagship sedan against its competitors. The big four-door easily bests rivals like the Audi A8 and Genesis G90 in terms of rear legroom, but it’s also a little more space-efficient than its main competitor, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Front seat occupants enjoy the usual list of luxury amenities, including leather upholstery, 14-way power-adjustable seats (with memory settings), and two full sets of rear-seat LATCH anchors. The rear seats, however, get an upgrade that few luxury sedans offer: a multifunction rear seat option that gives back-row passengers heat, ventilation, and massage capabilities. Other options include rear-seat iDrive infotainment controls, a power rear sunshade, and a heated steering wheel.

Even the trunk is spacious in the bmw specs, offering a roomy 18.2 cubic feet of cargo space that’s more than enough for a long weekend getaway. There are plenty of places in the cabin to store smaller items, too, including a spacious glove compartment and several large armrest cubbies. There’s also a pair of cupholders in the front and a couple more in the rear fold-down armrest.

In addition to all the interior comfort features, BMW offers an array of premium quality trims and fabrics that give the 7 Series a unique look. The 2023 model year saw a number of new upgrades, including the latest iteration of BMW’s iDrive infotainment software, which now runs on a 14.9-inch curved display and can be controlled via hand gestures or the rotary dial. An optional head-up display adds a more futuristic touch, showing navigation and road sign information in a transparent panel that overlays on the windshield.

The 760i’s colossal 31.3-inch Theater Screen rear entertainment system motors down from the ceiling, providing a stunning viewing experience for back-seat passengers. It’s the only car in its class with this feature, which lets rear-row passengers watch TV shows, movies, or downloaded content on a high-definition 8K display that folds down from the headliner. They can even play video games or listen to music on the surround-sound Bowers & Wilkins audio system.

The X6 has a range of petrol and diesel engines to suit every drive, with the xDrive50i offering the perfect balance between everyday usability and jaw-dropping speed. It’s the most powerful version of this seven-seater that BMW makes, and can accelerate from 0-62mph in just over 4 seconds and glide through gears effortlessly thanks to its 8-speed M STEPTRONIC transmission and Drivelogic shifting options.

When it comes to BMW’s electric range, the i Series offers some of the most cutting-edge technology available. From the i4 with its plug-in hybrid drivetrain to the i8 with its quad-rotor electric motor, these vehicles can achieve up to 75 miles on a single charge and offer a more refined driving experience than some rivals.
