Passion, the third book explains to the readers why the previous incarnations of Lucinda did not live past the age of seventeen, what happens after she dies. As Lucinda travels through time, a mysterious stranger appears who offers to help her better understand her past. With the help of the unknown Lucinda, she bears witness to the strength of Daniel’s love for her; while Daniel is desperately trying to reach her, fearing that her accidental meddling in the past will alter her future. In the end, the reader would learn why Lucinda would spontaneously combust, but with the answer comes more questions. The book is heartbreaking, but the hope that love will prevail will have the reader anticipating the final book in the series: Rapture.

Lauren Kate has managed to create an interesting and romantic love story. She reminds the reader that although love makes people do great things, it is worth fighting for. It’s not just a love story between two people, it’s also a story about faith and free will, about doing the right thing. Lauren Kate also emphasizes the importance of friendship when writing about betrayal and how people can overcome differences to work together.
